FANTASY AUTHOR’S HANDBOOK INTO THE FUTURE!

Big things are happening at Fantasy Author’s Handbook! It’s not just the little blog that could anymore. I’m bringing it out into new vistas.

Never fear, though, the weekly Tuesday blog will continue—is continuing, in fact. But so far two new iterations of the FAH “brand” are up and running, if still in their preliminary stages, and I’d like to take this Tuesday to nudge you in their direction, not instead of but in addition to the blog.

First of all, as I premiered here a few weeks ago, the  Fantasy Author’s Handbook YouTube channel  is up and running, starting with a series of videos unboxing a huge science fiction, fantasy, horror, and etc. book haul. I bought a “lot” of books from eBay, 95 in all, and in four long videos I show off what came in the box, with a little background on each title.

Rest assured, though, the FAH YouTube channel will not all be “Booktube” content. I’m recording videos on the art and craft of writing fantasy, science fiction, horror, and fiction in general, and those will be posted soon and, eventually, on a regular schedule. How will you know when those pop up? Subscribe to the channel! It’s easy, it’s free, and as always, there’s no hidden or “premium” content—no Patreon, no memberships, so secret club. Subscribe to the YouTube channel for free, just as you’ve been subscribed to the blog—for free.

Next, I’ve set up a  Fantasy Author’s Handbook GoodReads group . The group is open for anyone to join for a positive discussion of genre writing, the writing life, etc. I’m really hoping this becomes a place to trade information, tips, success stories… anything a community of authors can bring to each other, and as with all iterations of Fantasy Author’s Handbook, in a positive, constructive manner. And yes, indie authors, there is a thread for you to tell us about your book!

Speaking of telling us about your book, I hope by now you’ve picked up a copy (on Kindle or paperback) of  The Best of Fantasy Author’s Handbook, Volume I (2009-2013) , featuring 58 revised and expanded posts from the first five years of this blog. Here’s what it looks like…

And I’ve already put together a preliminary list of posts for Volume II, which will cover the best posts from 2014-2016. It will most likely be even longer than the first volume, since this is when the blog really found its footing. Can I get that together by the end of the year? I’ll try, but it’s already mid-September, so…

Anyway, stay tuned here,  YouTube ,  GoodReads,  as well a  X/Twitter  and/or  LinkedIn  for news on that.

And then…?

Once the YouTube channel is in full swing and at least the second  Best of  book is out… online courses? More books on the art and craft of writing from FAH Books in 2024 and beyond?

What else would you like to see?

Tell me here, on YouTube, or on GoodReads… or all three!
