Ready for the Interview

Now after reading three Cara Hunters’ back to back, I’m fully up to date with her catalogue and ready for the final interview of my police procedural book, which I will be recording this Tuesday.



Hope to Die is one of the strangest police procedurals that I’ve read in a while. When it opens with a case of self defence, this book will have lots of its readers thinking what was behind this plot, as the psychological reasons for the way this book unfolds will have most of its readers rethinking the concept of police procedurals all over.



With the modern use of podcasts Cara is completely on trend and with the emergence of Infamous, which she’ll go on to use in Death in the Family, this puts a new light on what I first thought was a standalone, but which turned out to be an offshoot. I wonder whether the next book will refer back to Infamous again, given how interestingly it was resolved in Death in the Family? The amount of twists and turns and the unusual story in this book, shows me why it was on the extended longlist for me to consider in this years Theakston’s prize. With the many characters in this series, there’s a lot of places Cara could go with it and I’ll be really interested to discuss this with her in the interview.



I hope that fans of Cara will enjoy this book just as much as I did with its unusual storyline.
