Author spotlight: Cassandra O’Leary

In the lead-up to ARR2024 in March 2024 we will be spotlighting the authors who will be signing. In the spotlight today we have Cassandra O’Leary . Cassandra will be signing in Melbourne.
Who was the first romance author to catch your interest?
Probably Danielle Steel or Jackie Collins. I borrowed their books from the library back when I was at uni (and supposed to be studying).
How long have you been reading romance?
Since the mid-90s, first chick lit such as Marian Keyes and Sophie Kinsella and classics like Jane Austen, then I found mainstream romance in the early 2000s.
What genres do you write?
Contemporary romance, romantic comedy and women’s fiction
What his your favourite part of creating a story?
I love playing with characters and funny story ideas and writing dialogue that hopefully falls into the witty banter category.
Tell us about your latest release:
Dating Little Miss Perfect is a full-length steamy rom-com novel that features anonymous online dating, workplace romance, rivals-to-lovers trope, a prickly scientist heroine and a laid-back Aussie marketing manager hero (who may look like a Hemsworth). It’s my quirky take on You’ve Got Mail with lots of other movie references thrown in.
What else are you working on at the moment?
I’m working on my upcoming novella, Girl on a Layover , in the Girl on a Plane series. It’s a fun rom-com set in a luxury resort, reuniting Yuki and Declan from my prequel novella, Girl Under the Christmas Tree .
