Outside Looking In for 10-28-23
Welcome to a new column that will spotlight some comics that didn’t quite make the Hot 10 List. Think of this as the honorable mentions and some comics that may not qualify for the regular Hot 10 List.
If you haven’t noticed, I do not include any Exclusives on the Main List (Store, Convention, or otherwise). I just don’t feel its equal footing to include those books on the regular list, so I don’t use them there. But sometimes there are Exclusives worth noting, and this is where you may find them going forward, on the Outside Looking In.
American Psycho #1 1:10
Another 40 sold this week averaging around $50. There was another High sale of $60 as this almost made the list for a 3rd consecutive week as it maintained its volumes and price. But without an increase to speak of this felt more appropriate here on the outside looking in rather than a repeat on the main list.
I will be curious if this can maintain or even rise/fall as the subsequent business card variants start rolling out. As the only Incentive of the business card set it will prob remain the key of the bunch.
Marvel Team Up #141
As the other Black suit Spidey books make this list this week, this appears to be the 3rd option for collectors with only about 20 sales.
This still outpaces the Spectacular Spidey as that one is a distant 4th. Most mid-grades are around $30 and a high grade newsstand sold for $140 raw.
Ghost Rider #17
Both covers selling but the Bjorn Barends is the winner. I had this one on my Wed Watch List because I like the layout. I didn’t even notice that copies started hitting over $25 at auction but only a few sales so far.
One to watch for next week as it looks like folks want to complete their Weapons of Vengeance storylines. Thanks to Topher for the head’s up on this one.
Wolverine #37 2nd Print 1:25
Only a Three sales this week so I don’t think that was enough to make the list. And one of those sales was made after I finalized the main list.
But at $70-79 it’s worth noting that folks still shell out the bucks for these incentive 2nd prints even if its not in the volumes that it was before.
Fantastic Four #164
1st Frankie Raye almost makes the list, but it seems most folks want the 1st appearance as the Herald of Galactus and not so much her 1st as just herself.
Still nearly 20 sales this week since the rumor mill started churning so if we get any confirmations this one could see more movement ahead.
Prices are all over as many lower grades go around $10 while higher grades are around $30.
This list will also be covered each week on my channel by my friends, the SNS boys. The fellas cover the week’s news in comics and pop culture, and have many other fun comic segments. Check them out if you like talking comics with a lighter attitude. The language can get a little salty, so it’s not intended for the kiddos; but you can check the boys out every week at 8pm est on Saturday Night Special .
