Planeta Blu | Preview

We’re finishing out the week with a preview of Planeta Blu, by Tem Blessed and Michael LaRiccia, a new YA fantasy about a group of teens who can talk to the animals. This is not Doctor Doolittle, though – the animals are calling on them to join forces to stop global warming. Here’s the publisher’s description:

After Lares, her brother Angel, and their friends Tomé and Tyler gain magical abilities, they stumble upon a looming war. The animal kingdom is ramping up to save the earth — “Planeta Blu” — by taking on the global climate crisis by fighting pollution at the source. One billionaire oil tycoon has sinister machinations at work, but the globe’s animals and the young team of humans will need to work together if they want to have any chance at saving our world!

Blessed is a hip-hop artist who was born in Guinea-Bissau, West Africa, and developed Planeta Blu from the bedtime stories he made up for his children. Dark Horse will publish the book, which is rated for grades 8-12, on November 21. Click on the first image to start the preview. Enjoy!
