Crime Time FM update

As ever the Crime Time Debate the Best Crime Fiction of 2023 was one of the highlights of the podcasting year for us. It was our first time in front of an audience and eight top critics and writers offered up their favourites. You can read all about it in Barry Forshaw’s piece in this newsletter but now you can also listen to it on Crime Time FM (add link please). We all enjoyed taking part so much we were thinking of doing a themed summer show. Maybe we should have a play off at the end of that!

Crime Time FM is thrilled to announce that we are the official podcast for Newcastle Noir 2023, (6th-9th December – Newcastle Central Library). Episode one of three podcasts covering the event is available now, where we preview the festival. If you want to know more about the friendliest International Crime Festival, including booking details, have a listen in.

We continue to bring you all manner of top and up-and-coming crime writers every week on our shows. Victoria Selman’s #OnTheSofa is well into season 5 and topics range from True Crime recorded at Capital Crime with Donna Freed, Anna Motz & Matt Johnson to Lauren North, Lesley Kara & Niki Mackay chatting Psychological thrillers. Next up are Suk Pannu, an author to watch, and CWA Diamond Dagger winner, Robert Goddard.

My recent interviews for #InPersonWithPaul have been as eclectic as ever – one of Scotland’s finest Doug Johnstone, literary historical aficionado Leonora Nattrass and noirist thriller writer Nick Triplow. Coming soon we have Terry ‘I Am Pilgrim’ Hayes on his new thriller The Year of the Locust, James Naughtie on his spy trilogy, Tom Mead on The Murder Wheel and the art of the locked room and antipodean legend Garry Disher with Craig Sisterson.

Of course, we’re already lining up a star studded cast for 2024 but there’ll be a few seasonal shows to savour before then. Let’s sign off with seasons greetings to you all and thank you to everyone for your support during the year from Barry, Victoria, Craig and Paul.
