Non-Bookish Weekend Post: Draftosaurus

I almost did not finish this post but it’s a simple game with a simple concept and multiple levels of play and not to forget extremely cute wooden dinosaurs!!

Each player gets to choose a certain number of dinosaurs( numbers wary with the number of players. This is a blind draw and even though the pieces are shaped, use hard to identify when you put your hand in the bag.

The dinosaurs then are chosen to be placed in the different locations on the board one by one. Each player places, pass the rest to the next person and the process repeats( with subtle differences) until everyone has no pieces left which obviously happens all at the same time.

The game is all the in the numbers. Each placement has a restriction and you control the pieces in the game in some small way. I’ve only played it with two players and although the end dino zoo looked pretty and it was mildly competitive, I think this will shine with more players because there are literally a lot more moving pieces in play.

The final scores are based on the previously mentioned restrictions. The winner is the person with the best score.

All in all I recommend this as a good game to introduce probabilities into family gaming. Luck is a factor but not enough to dissuade an interested family of gamers.
