“Capwolf And The Howling Commandos – Part 03”
Their guests have arrived! A cool headed Capwolf And his team have infiltrated the outer perimeter of the Wolfsschanze bunker. Inside awaits hell on earth as the Führer’s chief seer prepares her newest initiates for the carnage they are about to unleash. What these monsters don’t realize is that their prey is a Super-Soldier.
Will a newly turned Steve Rogers have enough strength to stop an entire platoon of Nazi Werewolves with just his shield? How many generations has the Rós been hunting for human flesh? Issue three of Capwolf And The Howling Commandos is plagued by the very same problems faced in its predecessors. The dialog is basic speak for the most part. I believe the hand detonator used by the demolitions expert is from 1956 or later (possibly a Vietnam Claymore trigger). The most annoying part of this is the sexual tension between Dum-Dum Dugan and “Frankie” the token female.
I do want to praise Carlos Magno’s werewolf art in this one. As a fan of all things Lycanthrope, I thought the battle scenes were pretty amazing. His werewolf designs are reminiscent of the original Howling movie from 1981, as well as Dog Soldiers from 2002. These are two of my favorite horror movies I might add.
I think with better direction, dialog, and more time spent on fleshing out the Rós character, Capwolf And The Howling Commandos would be more of a hit. I’m going with another two out of five stars. The art is the most interesting thing out of this entire issue. Go get a copy if Werewolves are your thing.
