In the lead-up to ARR2024 in March 2024 we will be spotlighting the authors who will be signing. In the spotlight today we have Kate Meader . Kate will be signing in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
Who was the first romance author to catch your interest?
Joanna Lindsey, Fires of Winter (Vikings!)
How long have you been reading romance?
35+ years
What genres do you write?
Contemporary, sports (hockey), and LGBTQ+
What is your favourite part of creating a story?
The fourth or fifth rewrite, what I call ‘the charm edit’—it’s at that point that I’ve figured out what the characters are about (finally!) and I start thinking like them. I add in fun banter, nuance, and depth to make the story sing.
Tell us about your latest release:
Hot to the Touch is a standalone firefighter romance in my Hot in Chicago Rookies series. After tragedy strikes, Sam and Cass are left as guardians to their nephew and niece. It’s an enemies-to-lovers, only-one-palatial-apartment, love-from-grief romance, which has a lot of heat and humour despite the sad premise.
What else are you working on at the moment?
I’m finishing up Wild Ride , which is the ninth book of my Rookie Rebels hockey series. Troublemaking playboy meets no-nonsense single mom. Cute puppies and bro banter might be involved.
