That darn Ann Telnaes

More than words is all you have to do [Ann Telnaes letter] Elizabeth Tebow , Silver Spring Washington Post January 20 2024: A15 online at https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/01/19/biden-economy-claudine-gay-senior-fitness/ The Dec. 31 editorial cartoon, captioned "Autocracy is growing worldwide for 2024." (Ann Telnaes/The Washington Post) Thanks for Ann Telnaes's Dec. 31 Opinion piece showing cartoons about the conflict in Gaza by an Israeli and a Palestinian, " Palestinian and Israeli cartoonists see the war differently (and the same) ." They were powerful and their meanings clear, which is why I wondered why, other than the information on the artists, Telnaes felt it necessary to explain them. Then I turned to her cartoon on the next page and realized that without the caption, I would not have understood it. The best cartoons, especially political ones, speak for themselves.
