Welcome to a my version of HIDDEN GEMS!  
I usually run a section in True Firsts that spotlights books that fit this article’s criteria so why not just do a Hidden Gems of my own? Hopefully you will want to add a few of these to your comic kill list!
Some of these are comics that may surprise you in how much they go for, others are undervalued rarities or personal favorites.

The Tick 100
Invincible keys are taking off including the Tick book that most people are probably shocked even exists.

Shanda the Panda Sketchbook
There are certain Shanda comics that sell for good money. Now most of those are cover swipes but if you collect the furry stuff this is a rarity.

Arena Magazine 17
Nothing like an unknown Spawn cover! These usually came sealed with a card. The Venom cover and Sin City covers could easily be on this list too.
Recent Sales Data: Unknown. This one is not an easy find.



Smoke Signal Free
This oversized anthology Desert Island Brooklyn in 2009 is here for the Theo Ellsworth fans. Ellsworth has a following and some of his works like first printings of Capacity and Thought Feelings sell for a lot of money.
Recent Sales: A copy recently sold for 228 but I have seen them sell for more.


Star Wars Legacy 29 ( Newsstand )
If you can find a newsstand of this I would buy a high grade copy.  Not only is it a first for Darth Reave but more importantly, it is a solo adventure for Ahsoka Tano and a very early appearance.  The comic appears on the back and is part of a promotion for a role playing, heroclix type game.   I have also saved you the time and checked every issue of all published Dark Horse series from this era, and this is the earliest comic where the Ahsoka tale is printed.

Batman & Spawn Sealed Pack ( with poster )
This is not a tough book to find if you aren’t looking for this specific pack.  Sometimes you can find 5 or more listing on Ebay, other times there are long stretches of nothing.

Fantagor 4 ( Last Gasp, 1970 )
The final issue of Corben’s Fantagor from Last Gasp can sell well in high grade but I have seen solid copies for for under 10. To locate one in the wild you will need to find a store with a back issue section big enough to house an eclectic array of indie and underground books.  If you live near such a place I would head to the F section and look for this one. It appeals to Corben fans, underground collectors and bondage enthusiasts.

Rap Sheet Magazine July 1993 Sealed
I was surprised to learn about the cult like following for Meteor Man comics.  Now I understand that the newsstands sell for more but there is something appealing about this magazine featuring Dr. Dre.  Yea you can find it on Ebay pretty cheap but I wonder if that is just because people just don’t really know about it.

IDW’S Masters of Horror 3,3b,4,4b
I am telling you, if James Wan’s Cthulhu movie does well you can bet more from Lovecraft is coming.  For Lovecraft fans, this adaptation of Dreams in the Witch House may have gone unnoticed. Templesmith fans should take note too.
