I am fascinated by these animals. We have a murder of crows that live in our neighborhood that I see most days that I walk my dog and they absolutely fascinate me. Crows and other birds in the Corvus genus are some of the most intelligent animals in the world – they know how to use tools, they can recognize individual human faces, and pass knowledge down to their offspring through generations.
I know this might be a somewhat specific storytime theme and one that you might not think will work, but you can combine folklore and facts to create a program that highlights an animal you might not usually see in the spotlight! I would lean toward an older preK group or even early elementary school age group for this program. Combine a few read aloud titles with songs and crafts to create a fun (and educational) program!
