Interview With Author Munaa Alfazea
1. What inspired you to write this book? My Inspiration for writing mainly stems from my
view of the world around me and how the world is and instead of writing a sad
story as there is many other, A fantasy tale seemed more appropriate and as I
love a good fantasy story whether it be in a book, series, or a movie format.
2. What exactly is it about and who is
it written for? The book takes a
dive at a dystopian future where our poor choices of managing our planet has
led us to devolve out of hand where all our current issues are exacerbated with
time and the influx of human population but just like all things even bad
things must come to an end and so it did with an “enemy” on the horizon and
protagonists that have become so numb and dull to the status quo , what will it
take for them to wake up and take a step forward. The book is written for those
that want something fresh and hopefully enjoyable to read while avoiding the
typical cliché’s common in our era where the hero solves everything and the
villain is very bad, just like our world at times even the story is grey.
What
do you hope readers will get out of reading your book? A broader prospective and in short as
the saying goes “no one bad is truly ever bad and no one good is ever
truly good” yet even with that saying who are we to classify what is good
or bad? We can only try our best.
How did you decide on your book’s title and cover design? The title of the book came about naturally as
the name is an older name of earth according different sources ,some of
Buddhist origins , some old native American tribes , it is unclear and
unsubstantiated where the real name originated from but it seemed
appropriate for such a story and the cover design stems from the ouroboros
snake that eats its own tale symbolizing rebirth and repetition or even
reincarnation depends if you want to look at it from a philosophy or an
alchemist Lense.
What advice or words of wisdom do you have for fellow
writers – other than run!? Run? I would not tell
anyone to run from their goals, dreams, or even your problems, like in the
Agarthians running away from death is a terrible way to die slowly.
What trends in the book world do you see -- and where do you think
the book publishing industry is heading? I
think many more writers are getting into the fantasy genre giving twists
to old tales like robin hood or peter pan. in the 20 th century
when the book publishing industry came to life more with the movie
industry it helped it take off and nowadays it seems that every movie is
predictable every series finale is disappointing and every book seems to
be the same twist and no new innovations however with the pandemic and
everyone sitting at home for some time depending on where you were in the
world it helped give people some ideas and some new twists so I think the
industry will go into a second renascences with new ideas while using inspirations
from the old.
Were there experiences in your personal life or career that
came in handy when writing this book? Of
course, after working for years in many areas which exposed me heavily to
mistreated individuals, the unfortunates while trying my best to help
them, it influenced the dose of pain in the story.
How would you describe your writing style? Which writers or books
is your writing similar to? I do not have a
specific writer in mind however the basis of world building is inspired
from multiple sources such as 1984, Lord of the rings, A song of ice and
fire.
What challenges did you overcome in the writing of this book? Starting the story proved to be one of
the difficult chapters to write and going through the process from writing
and delivering the manuscript to publishing and advertising as this
process started from 2021 until release at 2023.
If people can buy or read one book this week or month, why should
it be yours? With the amount of
repetitive work and a slight lack of interest in something repetitive, I
believe my book would be a breath of fresh air when it comes to complexity
and unpredictability to the characters and story.
