Variant Heat Check for 2/17/24

Welcome to the return of Variant Heat Check. It’s been a while since Ben C and I used to do short videos looking in on the market on some well known and possibly less known Variant Covers.
I figured its time to bring this back working with my buddies over at SNS to bring you a spotlight on about four variants each week.
This week, we look at a 1:10, a 1:25, a 1:100, and a secret variant.
As I always say, Comics should be fun; and I want to provide content that keeps this hobby the good time that it should be.  So, without further ado, let’s see what some Variants are doing on today’s market…

Marvel Action Avengers #9 1:10
Sold Raw – $65.26 on 2/14/24

I have an affinity for IDW 1:10 incentives. Just something about the easier to qualify ratio and yet, print runs are typically on the smaller side. Especially a kid-centric comic about the Avengers at issue #9 in the run. Factor in a solid Black Widow cover and you have all the makings of a book folks want in their collections. Decent sale this week, but a far cry from the highs it once reached.

The Crow X-Files Conspiracy #1 1:25
Sold Raw – $240.00 on 2/9/24

This is a tough to find variant that hardly comes up. I covered these a while back on Chasing Ghosts as there were a series of one shots featuring crossovers with X-files with the likes of The Ghostbusters, Transformers, and The Crow. Only a few copies total in the census, this book doesn’t sell very often, graded or otherwise.

Wonder Woman #38 1:100
Sold Raw – $318.00 on 2/14/24

While not near the all time highs of the past, this is still an impressive sale for a 1:100 incentive. Gorgeous David Finch cover this as fetched as high as $1,400 in CGC 9,8, so I wonder if the buyer is planning on grading this one.

Fantastic Four #587 (Secret Edition)
Sold Raw – $1,200.00 on 2/9/24

This issue was distributed in a black poly bag (similar to the Death of Superman) and a limited number of signed variants were hidden among the main distribution. This sale is an oddity in that it is the variant Black Logo cover but is unsigned. You don’t see many of these signed or otherwise, but this is just the type of weird hard to find variant that I like to spotlight.

This list will also be covered each week on my channel by my friends, the SNS boys. The fellas cover the week’s news in comics and pop culture, and have many other fun comic  segments. Check them out if you like talking comics with a lighter attitude. The language can get a little salty, so it’s not intended for the kiddos; but you can check the boys out every week at 8pm est on  Saturday Night Special .
