Who was the first romance author to catch your interest?
The works of Nora Roberts were the first to introduce me to the world of romantasy. I enjoyed the deceitfully slow progression of her stories that kept me turning the pages. After some more reading in different romance subgenres, I realised that this was something I was craving to have in my life and decided to write a book I wanted to read.
How long have you been reading romance?
The desire to escape reality and forget about life’s troubles first appeared when I was a stressed-out high-school student. Ever since, I’ve returned to the comfort of fantasy worlds whenever I needed a break to recover.
What genres do you write?
I am primarily focused on dark fantasy and urban fantasy romance. My main characters start at a disadvantage and have to make their way through unknown, hostile environments. As someone who believes in the value of healthy relationships, I love seeing my protagonists find partners who support and help them grow throughout the story. A strong couple can face any trouble together, even though they may try to handle things separately at first—and potentially, fail miserably!
What is your favourite part of creating a story?
The daydreaming! Whenever I’m stuck in the story or am trying to figure out a way out of a tricky situation, I let it go and change my focus to something else. Then, in the shower, at the traffic lights, before falling asleep or during a work meeting it hits me. The satisfaction of finding my next plot twist is immense!
Tell us about your latest release:
The Mage’s Destiny is book 2 in my debut series that’s based in the Mistwalker world. Here, we follow Ayla Summerfield’s adventures in a brand-new school of magic. She finally found her tribe, a love interest and new friends. A perfect respite for a tormented soul with a dark past—or is it? Hold your breath as a series of events throw her into the net of lies, betrayal, false accusations and her own insecurities where she has to face her demons as well as fight for her love and stop the spread of darkness by any means necessary.
What else are you working on at the moment?
Book 3 of the Mistwalker series is undergoing its fourth rewrite. As a side project, I’m experimenting with a stand-alone urban fantasy romance that will feature portal magic, good versus evil and fairytale creatures presented in a new light.
