Welcome to a new column that will spotlight some comics that didn’t quite make the Hot 10 List. Think of this as the honorable mentions and some comics that may not qualify for the regular Hot 10 List.
You might be surprised that some of these didn’t make the main list, but that is not a disservice to any of these books, but a credit to those that made it. Some of the below just didn’t quite have the price increase or volume to warrant a spot yet.
If you haven’t noticed, I do not include any Exclusives on the Main List (Store, Convention, or otherwise). I just don’t feel its equal footing to include those books on the regular list, so I don’t use them there. But sometimes there are Exclusives worth noting, and this is where you may find them going forward, on the Outside Looking In.
X-Men #4
Volumes and prices are picking up recently. This was once a much more expensive book, but has fallen on hard times of late. Rebounding to $20-30 raw, this doesn’t appear related to anything X-Men ’97.
Could be from Deadpool/Wolverine rumors, or his ongoing membership in the most recent run of Uncanny X-Force. But considering that series just ended, I find that reasoning doubtful. haha
Uncanny X-Men Annual #14
Volumes seem to be gaining seam while the price remains about par with where its been. Depending on condition, Raws sell anywhere between $25-40.
It looks to be trending up slightly as more folks are either turning to this as a cheaper alternative to Uncanny #266 for 1st Gambit, or they are warming to the idea that multiple pages and panels inside this book is more than a “cameo” and not arguing over the semantics of publishing schedules and what was intended.
We get it, 266 was supposed to come out 1st and he’s not on this cover, but what happened, happened. Too many people associate price with 1sts. A book can be the actual 1st app and not be the more expensive comic. Those two things are not mutually exclusive. Just saying.
X-Men ’97 #1 1:100
Half a dozen sales is a solid first week for a high ratio 1:100 incentive most weeks. However most of the sales were just at ratio, with a pair that fetched $120+.
The main reason this made the Watch List was a single presale for $200. It is an outlier, but given the limited stock available and the new asking price, it is worth watching for next week. I’ll be most interested in the auction that is currently at $112 with 5+ days left as that will give a good read on the temperature of the market.
Uncanny X-Men #186
Tired of all the X-books on the lists this week, yet?
