The Picks:
Kingdom Riders TP – IDW Publishing releases a new graphic novel set in a dangerous fantasy world. Kayla has never cared much about the world outside her town or the wildly popular Kingdom Races. She survives her peasant life by hunting with her giant toad, Grok, and providing Lord Sul with special items for his race banquets. But when her best friend Mal finds herself in trouble, Kayla chooses to enter the Kingdom Races as a rider to save her. With a prize for winning more than she could ever imagine and control of the entire kingdom at stake, Kayla finds herself thrust into political intrigue and lurking danger. As she ventures into the wilder world, putting her own life at risk for friends, both old and new, Kayla must do what no one has ever done before: Finish the Kingdom Races. Fans of Hunger Games and Amulet will not want to miss this new title.
Summer Vamp HC – Random House Graphic gives readers a look at what happens when a very human kid ends up at a summer camp for vampires. The only thing Maya is looking forward to after a lackluster school year is cooking and mixing ingredients in the kitchen. She gets more joy from that than mingling with her peers. But when her dad’s girlfriend registers her for a culinary summer camp, her disappointing summer is saved! Things don’t go as planned though, when instead of baking pastries and cooking pasta, Maya finds herself surrounded by kids that look pale, have pointy fangs, and hate garlic! She is going to have a lot to learn if she is going to survive this summer, and she might even make some friends along the way. This title is perfect for fans of Witches of Brooklyn.
