Statement from ComicScene
If you see that social media is not as effective as it once was, comic review sites that can add even one or two sales are closing down (two I am aware of this week – Multiversity and Comic Book Yeti scaling down, even the Beat saying it’s tough) and those that continue struggle and depend on the goodwill of those who run them then you might understand why we felt it was time to launch our current Kickstarter for the Directory, ComicScene Social where you post direct to the website (like social media), theme weeks, getting your comics out there and why we are changing the model of what we do.
It’s a risk for us, but we wanted to try something new!
The more we work together the more we survive. All I will say is that if we reach 400 creators and our Crowdfunder target anything above that (we can handle 1200) will be gifted as grants to other sites and support groups who support comics and creators to keep them going.
You have four weeks to support this project and be in charge of your own future and comic community. That’s your deadline. Now is the time. Take a punt, give it a year, see how it works for you. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. But at least we all tried to give it a go. Pledge here https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/comicscene/comic-industry-directory-2025
