The first reaction to Lionsgate’s poorly planned reboot of The Crow has surfaced, and as expected, it is extremely negative. Warrior screenwriter Cliff Dorfman responded online, in a since deleted tweet on X, calling the picture “horrible” and “unwatchable.” Dorfman was initially attached to the film.
Here’s what his post said:
“If hypothetically, one happened to see a screening of @TheCrow_Movie #thecrow which @Lionsgate is releasing in August, one might say, it’s horrible, it’s unwatchable, don’t waste your money, or can’t believe it’s so much worse than the original. It is. And don’t.”
Dorfman did write a screenplay for an earlier version of The Crow , which was slated to be directed by F. Javier Gutierrez. Dorfman may be biased because that version of the film never made it to production, but his comment is supported by how fans reacted to the initial trailer, posting over 100K dislikes when it was released.
Here is the synopsis:
“Soulmates Eric Draven (Skarsgård) and Shelly Webster (FKA Twigs) are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.”
