Outside Looking In for Jun 14th, 2024

Welcome to a new column that will spotlight some comics that didn’t quite make the Hot 10 List. Think of this as the honorable mentions and some comics that may not qualify for the regular Hot 10 List.
You might be surprised that some of these didn’t make the main list, but that is not a disservice to any of these books, but a credit to those that made it. Some of the below just didn’t quite have the price increase or volume to warrant a spot yet.
If you haven’t noticed, I do not include any Exclusives on the Main List (Store, Convention, or otherwise). I just don’t feel its equal footing to include those books on the regular list, so I don’t use them there. But sometimes there are Exclusives worth noting, and this is where you may find them going forward, on the Outside Looking In.

Adventures of Superman #424

Nearly making the list as more casting news for James Gunn’s Superman film hit this week as he has chosen his Cat Grant in the form of Mikaela Hoover. I don’t know much about the actress, but Cat Grant has seen a larger role in recent year as one of Clark’s supporting characters around the Daily Planet.
While not setting the world on fire as its only averaging around $7 on 30+ sales this week with a high sale of $13 raw, this is another fun book you can dig out for cheap.

Adventures of Superman #480

Folks are loving the Daily Planet bullpen apparently as another reporter was cast causing the market to begin moving copies of Ron Troupe’s 1st appearance.
Like the last book this is only averaging a couple bucks with a high hitting only $9 on 20+ sales. But once again, no one is saying this is a long term investment book; but just another fun dollar bin boo you can still dig for this week.

Lady Deadpool #1

Yes those legs are triggering a response in all Lady Deadpool appearances, including this lone one shot. I bet we will see her featured in a new mini series before long, but for now this one shot is moving for about $15-20.
Not a ton of volume yet, but one never knows what next week will bring.

Petrol Head #1

Recent Option news have folks looking for this relatively new auto themed release. Seriously, this 1st arc feels like it only just ended.
That said, much like most indie option news this book has quickly gone from cover price to $10+

Grommets #1 1:20

Last week the 1:10 seemed to have all of the momentum, but I told you not to sleep on the 1:20 as this arcade cover was awesome. Still not the highest ratio book, but still doing pretty well.
Last week this was basically $20-30 but this week an auction hit $50 on one of these. And given the limited stock available now also seeking $50+, is this book gonna keep trending up to make the list next week? Or has it hit its ceiling? Time, as always, will tell.

This list will also be covered each week on my channel by my friends on their Friday Night show, The Qualified: We’re All a Little Damaged. The fellas cover the week’s news in comics and pop culture, and have many other fun comic  segments and artist spotlights. Check them out every week on  The Qualified  at about 9:30pm est immediately following the CBSI Hot 10 Show.
