“Perilous Pyramid Power”
School is back in session! To kick off the year, Andrea Thomas and Rick Mason have scheduled a field trip to Southern California. There, at a secluded Observatory, each student takes a turn looking through the giant telescope lens. During a break one of the resident professors begins to realign the array, then looks through the optics. To his surprise an alien spaceship is spotted entering Earth’s atmosphere.
With the adults and kids distracted by a burst of excitement, Andrea slips out the back exit and calls to the heavens. Andrea shouts “Mighty Isis” and is transformed instantly. Now to intercept the spaceship before any harm befalls the Earth.
Does the power of Isis work on beings from other worlds? Is the ancient Egyptian sun god Aten a false deity? Will Isis sacrifice everything to deny the alien complete power of the pyramids? Collect the series to find out!.
Reviewer Notes
So I really misunderstood the isis character through the first four issues. I thought when Andrea Thomas transformed into Isis, Andrea was still herself but with all the powers of the goddess (similar to Shazam or Black Atom). According to this issue, when Andrea says the words “Mighty Isis” the goddess replaces Andrea all together. Is it cannon?
This issue was clearly a better written script, with solid references to Egypt, the Egyptian gods (and goddesses), and the Pharaohs. There are also familiar overtones to Erich von Däniken “Chariots of the gods”. Aliens come to earth at the birth of mankind and help build civilization. I think Jack C. Harris covered all the bases.
In the letters to the editor section, there were complaints from the readers about how over simplistic the story’s were in issues one through three. I concluded the same thing in my previous review. Daddy didn’t raise no fool. Issue five does have interesting facts and a cool battle scene, so I’m giving it four out of five stars.
