“Feel The Fangs Of The Serpent King”
Rick Mason, the science director for Larkspur High School, has vowed to track down the mighty Isis and force the goddess to reveal the whereabouts of Andrea Thomas. Even if it kills him. Gaining no usable information from his visit with Andra’s mother, Rick plans to study the history of the goddess herself.
Returning from her battle against the consuming Ooze monster, Isis is mysteriously compelled towards the biggest city near Fairfax, Missouri. Her mind wanders from thought to thought as she soars through the sky. Who is she? Is she Andrea or the deity Isis? What strange force beckons her to the Egyptian wing of the big city museum?
Ten o’clock – the big city museum, Rick Mason methodically searches for any references to Isis in the museum’s archives. He is in luck as there are several artifacts on loan from Cairo. One is a small sculpture of a pyramid adorned with hieroglyphics. An attached plaque with the name Serpenhotep catches Rick’s attention. Could this be the answer he seeks?
How is Isis tied to the evil Egyptian snake cult of Serpenhotep? Who was the ancient wizard imprisoned in the serpent’s hold? Why are people transforming into snake monsters throughout Big City? Collect the series to find out!

This issue is a clear example why writers need to research locations before using them in their stories. Previously, Isis battled the Ooze monster in Egypt. Then she pursued the villains who just so happen to have another Ooze machine setup near Fairfax, Missouri. What a coincidence, as this is the exact place Rick Mason is visiting Andrea Thomas’ mother.
Fast forward in time. Rick travels to the “Big City” located near Fairfax, where he begins researching the history of Isis at the “Big City’s Museum”. This museum conveniently has an entire wing dedicated to ancient Egypt. Does the wing have artifacts? You bet. In fact the museum contains artifacts directly tied to Isis’ past. Which “Big City” near Fairfax is the mecha of Egyptian antiquities? Kansas City? St. Joseph? Topeka?
I did enjoy the art in this one. My favorite part was the “Big City” residents transforming into snake monsters. Some pretty badass scenes for a 70s comic book marketed to kids. Did I mention I love magic based heroes and villains?
We do get a Superman reference in this issue, but only as a passing quip. I read through the “letters from the readers” section, and there were more complaints about the “sophomoric level” of the writing. Readers were definitely not happy with the handling of the series. I have to agree with them.
I really wanted to give this book four stars, but I just can’t overlook the clunkyness. Isis truly needed a link to the big four characters, in my opinion of course. I’m giving Isis No.7 3 stars.
