In the heyday of the cold war between the United States and the Soviet Union, one team of scientists known as the Challengers of the Unknown were active in the field of environmental, paranormal, and supernatural studies. Their team worked closely with both governmental agencies and metahumans to solve various mysteries. In the years when the Challengers were involved with advanced studies their need for a remote base of operations grew. In March of 1960, Professor Mark Haley and June Robbins designed and constructed what is now known as “Challengers Mountain”.
Located in Colorado Rocky Mountain Range, the new base housed multiple laboratories, research bays, aircraft hangers, vehicle storage, and living quarters for the team as well as visitors. The small town of Hadley thrived near the foot of the mountain complex and in time became a booming tourist location. Hadley would later be renamed Challengerville. Unfortunately, in 1991 during a guided tour of the mountain base a terrorist planted a bomb inside structure. The mountain was destroyed along with a big section of the town below.
As of the year 2023 there is no plans or information on the Colorado location. With the retirement of the original Challengers of the Unknown team, and the advances in technologies, will a new team take up the mantel? Only time will tell.
