The Longlist Part 5

I know that the other parts have had multiple reviews on, but now that I’ve caught up with the ones that I’ve previously read and am back on a normal reading schedule, Elly’s 14th Ruth Galloway novel, is now also the 14th book that I’ve read on this year’s list.

This is the hardest book that I may have to review for this year’s Theakston’s as the theme was heavily influenced by lockdown and was very accurate to what occurred in that period. The fear that we all experienced was made real in this scarily true portrayal. As I was one of the people considered vulnerable, I never really went to the supermarket until a year and a half afterwards and had a relationship through Zoom and other technology.

This book, as well as being accurate to that, also looked at a crime which was a complicated one to describe and I don’t wish to give away any possible spoilers. But I will say, the clues were well hidden in there, but were there, as always. I think that Elly will get the credibility from her readership and other fans for tackling a topic that other authors have shied away from and will likely get many votes for this book.
