The Long List – Part 7

Sarah Vaughan’s Reputation, much like her first Theakston’s nominated book, Anatomy of a Scandal, was highly political and had a legal element, too. This year there have been three books with a legal theme to them. As a former law student and someone who is very interested in politics due to my degree in criminology, this was highly intriguing and it looked at some really interesting crimes which are not often looked at in crime fiction, plus some new ones, too, such as revenge porn, which is being legislated against with the online harms bill.

Because of this, this book is highly relevant to be nominated and if you take into account the death of two MPs, the plot is even more relevant when you understand the fear they must have when dealing with threats. This book will get close to the top of my list this year.
