Still keeping it Secret

Mark Edwards’ new book, Keep her Secret, was a book that I’d been aware of for quite a while, as I’m a regular viewer of Mark’s Bunker Broadcasts on his Facebook page, where he discussed the development of this in greater detail, plus he also appeared on Crime Cymru’s psychological thriller panel and discussed the book there, too. So this was rather strange when it appeared in my library on the day of publication, as I already had some vague idea about the tone of the secret, even if I didn’t know what it was.

When Helena and Matt go on holiday together in Iceland, what happens there leads to a series of incidents which provides a domino effect which makes this book have many different periods of tension and with two narrators narrating the two different perspectives the reader is always aware of what is going on, which in my view is the sign of a good book. There are clues peppered throughout to allow the reader to solve it, another reason why I like this book and at only just over 8 hours it is well paced and has very few slow points, using flashbacks into the past to flesh out the story.

I’ve now read most of Mark’s recent books and I think this is his best yet of his UK based novels. I’m looking forward to talking to him about what he thinks makes a good psychological thriller for my book on the subject. Mark has written so many so well that he’ll likely have lots to say.

I hope you enjoy the tension points in this novel as much as I did.
