Days 1 & 2 of my holiday: Scenes around Alnwick and Alnwick Gardens plus High Force Falls, and pictures from the first Sunset Cruise of the holiday with Serenity Boats. Puffins, Longstone, Bamburgh Castle and the Farne Islands
We managed to get out on a few sea trips, including taking a boat to Holy Island instead of our usual drive, made it just over the border to St Abbs, aka New Asgard from the Avengers movies, and took our usual annual bimble out to Cragside. A perfect way to relax (if you call walking 175k steps and 70 miles over 8 days relaxing) and rest the mind away from work matters. I won’t bombard you with all my pictures in week one, but prepare yourself for some lovely pictures of birds and views over the coming weeks. Will make up for the fact I will be too busy at work to do much of interest and probably too tired to go on local walks as a result. I took a bit of a break from blogging too (not that you’d have noticed) so am way behind on reviews again. 10 and counting. Guess what I’m doing with my Sunday …
My time away and active days also means that my reading took a nose dive, but I’m okay with that as I deliberately planned to be ahead of my schedule for just this reason. Thankfully not much going on by way of book post either. One book, Eye for an Eye by MJ Arlidge (20 July) ahead of the blog tour, but I’d already read that from Netgalley so hadn’t been expecting the book. One Netgalley book for a tour – Murder At The Inn by Katie Gayle (03 August). A few new books preordered too. Fist up The Library on Love Heart Lane by Christie Barlow (31 December), one of the very few non crime series I read. The Beaver Theory by Antti Tuomainen (12 October) was always going to be on my list, as was White As Snow by Lilja Sigurdardottir (12 October). There are two other Orenda books titles I’ve preordered too, but will tell you more about those when they are formally announced. If you go trawling the Zon, you can probably find them anyway. And that was that. Quiet week for me
