Easy Summer Sangria

You guys, this easy summer sangria is my new favorite thing!  It is seriously the best sangria ever and it is absolutely perfect to enjoy on a warm, summer day.  It’s like drinking summer in a glass, and is a 5 ingredient recipe, making it perfect for Five Ingredient Fridays .

With the scorching summer heat in full swing, there’s nothing more satisfying than indulging in a delicious and refreshing beverage that can be enjoyed by the poolside or during an outdoor gathering with friends. Look no further than this delightful and easy-to-make Summer Sangria. Bursting with the vibrant colors and flavors of strawberries and watermelon, this sangria is the epitome of summer in a glass. So grab your pitcher and get ready to enjoy the perfect blend of sweetness and tanginess, all in one sip!

The choice of wine plays a crucial role in the overall taste of the sangria. This recipe gives you the flexibility to choose between a dry white wine or a rosé wine, depending on your personal preference.
A dry white wine, such as Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio, brings a crisp and light profile to the sangria. Its subtle citrus undertones and delicate flavors provide a harmonious base for the fruity elements of the recipe. The dryness of the wine ensures that the sangria remains refreshing and doesn’t become overly sweet.
Alternatively, a rosé wine adds a touch of elegance and a slightly fruitier note to the sangria. The blush color of the wine enhances the visual appeal of the drink, making it even more enticing. The hints of red fruits in rosé wine, like cherries or raspberries, blend seamlessly with the strawberries and watermelon, enhancing the overall flavor profile.
I find it’s best to find a crisp, dry white wine as a base.

This recipe is seriously so easy.  The most time consuming part is just cutting your watermelon and strawberries (and I like using frozen whole strawberries for this recipe, so one less prep step).  After that’s done, it’s a matter of pouring everything into a pitcher, stirring and enjoying!

What’s even better is this recipe is more delicious with time, so it’s perfect to make ahead and store in the fridge.  Simply mix everything together, leave it in the refrigerator overnight and it will be ready to pour for you and your friends the next day!

Summertime fruits are what makes this sangria scream summer (and also makes it extra delicious)!  Strawberry and watermelon are favorites in our house, so we always have them on hand.  Some for the kids to snack on and some for the adult beverages!

Oh and don’t forget my favorite little trick – use frozen strawberries because they act as ice cubes!  Enjoy the best summer sangria outside on your patio – cheers! Make this as a rose sangria by using rose wine, or a white wine sangria and enjoy all summer long.
