Ignoring Cupid is odd...

 I think it's foolish to ignore Cupid's impact, or rather what impact he has in story. Taking free will to force love between two other beings... yeah that is not all different from using date rape drugs. So why is he never a villian in stories? Why is he always a passive figure. I feel like we, as writers, are really dropping the ball on potential antagonists in media.  It's always vampires or the Fey or witches, but never beings so directly potentially useful in our stories and tales. It feels like a let down to ignore Cupid as one such example...  Other ideas? The Magic Mirror from the Snow White story or even the Snow Queen Story that seem to bring out the worst in others. The Muses from the Greek Pantheon, that could easily drive one to madness via inspiration.  On that same note, why do we ignore potential heroes? Demons or Chthonic beings could easily become protectors with their fierceness if you ignore human views on morality. Gods are only deemed good in modern stories due to a faint understanding of mythologies. Demons could be viewed the same way.  I'd like to see stories of Incubi or Succubi helping virgins or trauma victims get a grip on their sexuality. Vampires still monstrous but not so feral, targeting only abusers or using their mental powers to force confessions out of human evil doers.  So many other possibilities, so many places to take these concepts and those are just European concepts, what if you add beings from other cultures we sleep on? So much to work with...  So, I think it's time actually see the full spectrum of beings and ideas represented from various angles and not just the one dimensional view points we live on so often...  So... yeah!
