Marvel & DC News, 1st Appearances, & Speculation | Cheap Comics | DBD 252
Welcome back for this week’s edition of Dollar Bin Digging where I spotlight a few books to keep an eye out for to snag on the cheap.
This week, I look at some more fun speculation related to the recent news, leaks, rumors, theories, and announcements. Topics ranging from Captain America to Spider-Man and more. Just some more fun books to hunt for cheap based on Marvel, DC comics, and some Independent news.
Check out the video if you want to see some more books that I talked about this week that are not presented below:
As I always say, Comics should be fun; and I want to provide content that keeps this hobby the good time that it should be. Anyway, if you follow my IG , then you may have seen some of these pick-ups before as I typically share my pick-ups there when they happen. Check it out if you like seeing more books than I cover here. So, without further ado, let’s see what you should be looking out for in those bins…
First Up:
Captain America #405
This one always comes around again near Halloween as Cap Wolf is just fun. But now we have a new limited series feature Capwolf and the Howling Commandos to look forward to.
This series should bring interest back to the 1st appearance of Capwolf in #405, but realistically, I would keep an eye out for all 6 parts of the story in those cheap boxes. So That’s Captain America 402-407
Next Up:
New X-Men #114
So this issue has had its ups and down over the years as it was a revamp of the X-Line as written by Grant Morrison. the Fox movies at 1st seemed to take queues from this run with our leather clad X-Men of the 2000’s.
But recent rumors put Cassandra Nova as the baddie in the next Deadpool film, so interest is back on this issue as it is her 1st appearance. There are plenty of these out there , but lots of copes recently selling for $10-15 so expect to see it show up on plenty of Hot10/Top 10 Lists in the coming days.
Next Up:
Spider-Man: The Arachnis Project #1-6
So if rumors are to be believed, the big bad in the 3rd Venom flick will be Orwell Taylor and his Jury. Their 1st appearance In Venom Lethal Protector #1 is already a book to keep an eye out for as its still consistently sells for $20+.
But a fun little mini to keep an eye out for is this Arachnis Project which not only features Orwell and the Jury as the villains but also their ties to the Life Foundation, which if you recall was the baddie group from the 1st Venom flick as controlled by Riz Ahmed, who became Riot.
Last One:
Daredevil #126
Ok so more rumors direct me towards 2 different Daredevil 1st appearances. First up, rumors are that DD will have a new love interest in the upcoming Disney + Born Again series, and those rumors point toward Heather Glenn.
Heather was not without her faults as a character in that she had a trouble history with alcohol, dated Tony Stark, and later revealed DD’s secret identity to a character named Tarkington Brown. It’s this aspect that I can see being played out as part of DD’s upcoming show as I imaging Matt Murdoch being outed will be a key component of part of the 18 episode run. I know they will play fast and loose with the source material, but it doesn’t hurt to be prepared for cheap.
That said, look for Heather’s 1st in DD126, and Tarkington’s 1st (as well as the identity reveal) in DD195
