Woods’ Standalone

Trevor Woods’ new book is a departure from his homeless detective series, but it is a prime example of what you may call a lockdown book, too. You can Run is the story of a village and a girl named Ruby. When a private army puts the village under siege you ask why have they done this and will the village be able to escape from their clutches?



The number of characters in this book is very entertaining and the way that he switches perspectives ensures that the book doesn’t slow down. It’s just as tense as his previous books and I can see that lots of people will enjoy it. I could add more, but don’t wish to spoil anything. All I can say is that the central mystery is well explained in dribs and drabs, with a letter that was intended for Ruby’s 16th birthday. This means that throughout the slower parts of the novel, you always know that you will eventually learn why this has happened.
