Scenes from Regents Park and London Zoo
As I write this post, today would have been my mother’s 86th birthday. She ‘shuffled off this mortal coil’ back nearly a decade ago, so she is beyond celebrating this parrticular milestone, but our recent trip to see the Wizard of Oz does bring back some chucklesome memories of the old boot. Rarely one to do anything without making a point, she even had to make sure she made a grand, and highly memorable, exit.
You shouldn’t laugh about these things really I suppose, but Mother had a reputation as the local AM Dram groups panto witch. She loved, it, played up to it, was very convincing in real life too – ask anyone who used to work with her … Now, as they were carrying her out of the house the lights and alarm on the police car (she died unattended – no foul play), and my brother in laws car just started going off, flashing and blaring out into the night … for no apparent reason whatsoever
