Good Anguish

Saul Anguish is a great character which shows how Fiona’s writing keeps evolving as she seems to be able to write psychological thrillers and now police procedurals in her own distinct way.



Starting from the first book she wrote, Rattle, her work has been very dark in it’s tone, she was the first psychological thriller writer that I know of that seems to base her writing around universes and often brings characters back even in little roles. This maybe why she is able to move into a police procedural hybrid in such a way that still gives her own flavour.



When a couple go on a killing rampage, a mother is left distraught over which child she would choose to sacrifice, and just like every book Fiona’s yet again managed to do a dark twist that was unexpected, mainly because of how far outside of leftfield it was.



With a narcoleptic character and a strange collector you can see why Fiona’s dark tale disturbs people and brings enjoyment. Really looking forward to talking to her about it tomorrow.
